2009 Moscato
Gapsted Valley Selection 2009 Moscato
Vineyard Region: South Eastern Australia
Winemaking
The grapes for this wine were picked early to retain freshness and lively fruit character. A very slow, and cold controlled ferment at 7 degrees for 5 weeks ensured fresh crisp varietal characters. Fermentation was stopped at 6 Baumé, by chilling the wine and fining. Some naturally occurring CO² was maintained in the wine resulting in a light frizzante style.
Colour: Pale straw
Nose: Sweet perfume of roses, violets and ginger.
Palate: Fresh and grapey, obviously sweet but not over sweet. Hints of Turkish Delight and coconut tantalize the taste-buds with a slight spritz and a clean acidic finish.
Wine Analysis: Alc/Vol 6.5%
Peak Drinking: Enjoy Now!
Food Matches: Moscato is simply a great drink on its own and does show a great deal of diversity with food. Great with a cheese platter or is equally suited to more savoury dishes such as rich patés, or saté chicken.
