Gapsted Valley Selection 2009 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon
Vineyard Region: King Valley
Winemaking
The fruit was harvested at night, had skin contact for 6 hours and fermented cold in stainless steel for 4 weeks to ensure the fresh characteristics of this variety were pure. The wine was bottled under screw cap shortly after fermentation and cool stored prior to release.
Colour: Deep straw
Nose: Fragrant grass, guava and snow pea with underlying warmth of stone fruit.
Palate: Zesty gooseberry flavours with a fresh lingering finish.
Wine analysis: Alc/Vol 12.0%
Peak drinking: Enjoy Now!
Food matches: Blue swimmer crab cakes with a water cress salad.
Last Word
With its deliciously rich texture and fragrant green pea aromas, Semillon is an excellent support partner for Sauvignon Blanc. For this wine we wanted the crisp, zesty, limey, fragrant intensity of the Sauvignon Blanc, accompanied also by the fleshy richness of Semillon.
